The workshop will be held in a hybrid format: video conference and in-person meeting at Bahir Dar University.
About 50 animal scientists from different universities and internationally known animal breeding experts will be expected to join the workshop.
This workshop has the following objectives and opportunities with respect to animal production in Ethiopia:
- Promoting knowledge transfer about the current and innovative animal breeding strategies.
- Developing scientific and expert-driven livestock breeding strategies with a sustainable impact on livestock production.
- Motivating young scientists to play an active role in the development of future animal breeding programs.
- Promoting research collaborations between the University of Bonn and Bahir Dar University and other African research and educational institutions.
The workshop is organized by the Institute of Animal Sciences of the University of Bonn and the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences of the Bahir Dar University and financed by the Volkswagen Foundation.
