Theses
The Animal Nutrition Group offers students the opportunity to conduct theses on various aspects of animal nutrition, including literature reviews, lab experiments, and feeding trials. At the end of this page, you will find examples of theses that are currently being conducted or have been completed in the Animal Nutrition Group.
Students are warmly welcome to suggest their own thesis topics, including interdisciplinary projects or collaborations with external partners such as other research groups, companies, or farms. In such cases, we kindly ask for a brief and concise description of the idea in the initial contact.
If you are interested in pursuing a Bachelor or Master thesis in the Animal Nutrition Group, please contact Prof. Hartinger (hartinger@uni-bonn.de) or Dr. Kehraus (splos@uni-bonn.de).
Examples of theses in the Animal Nutrition Group
- Use of direct-fed microbials (DFM) in ruminants to modify rumen fermentation
- Correlation between measured (calorimetry) and calculated (proximate analysis) gross energy in feed components for dairy cows
- Microbiological characterization of conserved insect larvae using culture-dependent methods
- Evaluation of physicochemical parameters such as water-binding capacity, water-holding capacity, and swelling properties in relation to ethanol-insoluble residue and derived neutral detergent-soluble and acid detergent-soluble fiber for feed evaluation in pigs
- Studies on feed intake, energy efficiency, and protein efficiency in beef bulls within performance testing
